The Haparanda railway station is the only railway connection from Sweden to eastern Europe. For that reason the European and Russian track widths meet here. Haparanda railway station is designed by Folke Zettervall and it is one of the biggest countryside railway stations in Sweden. The station houses also an activities center for local youngsters.
