Tornio’s beautiful parks and green areas offer recreational opportunities for residents and tourists. The city’s most important parks are Ainopark and Apothecary Park, and there are numerous smaller parks. On the banks of River Tornio there are extensive groomed green areas and hiking trails, where you can enjoy nature in the center of the city.

Arboretum

The Tornio Arboretum Park is a free attraction for anyone interested in parks. The park offers an opportunity to observe different plants in northern conditions. The size of the area is about 3.5 hectares. The park has about 200 trees and shrubs, and almost the same number of grassy plants.

Tornio dog park

The city’s dog park is located along the River Tornio, on the north side of Lappari Experience factory at the end of Panimonranta Street. The area size is about 1500 m2. The dog park has free access to everyone.

Tjärhovet park

Tjärhovet has a 1,000 square meter dog park, surrounded by the Haparanda fence. There are tables and benches in the dog park and, of course, a dog groove. There is also Tornvallen, a former military fort, which consists of two wars, built during the First World War.

Strandparken

In the beach park there are various events all year round, there are opportunities for various sports activities, as well as a playground and a beach. In summer, singing in the beach park and other nice events are organized.
