Let us introduce you to our local event center Toranda, which is located on the banks of the beautiful Tornio River, right next to the sea.
In Toranda you can find a wide range of services, both indoors and outdoors. Facilities include guest marina, restaurant, banquet- and conference facilities, sauna – and old fashioned bathing tub renting, and possibility to stay in idyllic Merilinna manor. The area also has a large courtyard area as well as a beach with a pier and volleyball nets. In summer time you can cool off in the river and spend a fun day with friends playing volleyball on a warm sand base.
Toranda’s restaurant Magasin is open for lunch and in summer months the restaurant is open even more extensively. You can check out the menu they offer on their website. You can spend your day on the cozy glass terrace and enjoy the beautiful view of Tornio River glimmering by. You can also rent premises on your own events.

Toranda’s guest marina is a high-quality port with 40 berths and it’s located right on the Finnish-Swedish border. The cities of Tornio and Haparanda are within walking distance.
The guest marina berth is subject to a fee, 20 € / day. More information and booking on their website.
The Merilinna manor dates back to 1935 and has previously served as the Old Coast Guard’s old base. The Merilinna offers six bedrooms on two floors. which two of the bedrooms are suites. Each bedroom is individually decorated and each room has its own shower and toilet facilities. The upstairs suites offer stunning sea views.
There are high-quality sauna facilities in the courtyard of Merilinna. The large sauna is a traditional Finnish wood-heated sauna and its benches can accommodate a lot of people at once. There is also a cottage kitchen in connection with the large sauna. A small group can also comfortably enjoy the sauna experience in the smaller electrically heated sauna. You can also book a traditional old fashioned bathing tub for a group. Sauna facilities can be booked separately without accommodation.
You can find a large Arena in the area, where many indoor events are held. The Arena offers high-quality facilities which can easily be converted into large meetings, private functions, events and concerts. At the entrance to the Arena there are cloakroom and toilet facilities as well as a cozy lobby. Large parking spaces are located just outside the main building. There is also a Uitto -hall and a glass terrace in the main building, which together with the Arena, allow for about 1,000 seats.
The Uitto-hall offers a great setting for various occasions, meetings and small events. The hall is the original part of Toranda, which was built in 1952. At that time, the hall served as a canteen for swimmers. Uito’s premises can accommodate a maximum of 140 people and with a glass terrace allow dining for up to 200 people.
Toranda is also suitable for organizing large outdoor events. The outdoor area is a total of 2 hectares of fenced area, much of which is grassland. The frozen river mouth provides extra space for winter events.
Toranda offers a variety of activities as well as activity packages tailored to your needs. For example, what would a hiking trip in the beautiful forest landscapes of the Vuono and dining in the atmospheric facilities of Toranda end at the end of the trip sound like? Or maybe you would prefer chocolate making and spend a relaxing night in a sauna with friends or co-workers? If you wish, you can also stay in the magnificent Merilinna. This fall there are many events held in Toranda. For example there are concerts such as Charles Plogman in September, Popeda and Osmo’s Cosmos in
November. For children there is going to be the theater Mysteeri maatilalla in October. There are going to be comedian night and little christmas parties. So much fun in so many different kinds of events! And let’s not forget the annual Toranda Venetsialaiset – the end of summer celebration at the end of August that is held every year!
