Published:
Christy Leung and Kenneth Lai from Nucksproduction

The Nucksproduction team, led by Kenneth Lai, visited in HaparandaTornio from Hong Kong this week. They are filming an episode for a travel program called Hipster Tour. This team has toured around the world filming interesting attractions and now they were in Finland, and Sweden for the second time. Two Countries – One Destination Interreg Nord -project got a chance to plan an interesting program for them in HaparandaTornio and it caught their interest. HaparandaTornio ended up being included in the program focusing on Finland. The filming happened around Tornio and Haparanda, focusing on the uniqueness of the area and local experiences. The production group was interested in, among other things, Kukkola and fishing culture, an escape game with animals, one of the largest saunas in the world, and sauna culture in general. Of course, the cross-border tourism complex was inspiring, and surely refreshing for them during these special times.

Hipster Tour is part of the program of the Hong Kong TVB channel and has about 1.2 million viewers locally. The program is also shown on Cantonese TV channels, e.g. In Canada, the United States, Malaysia and Singapore. In addition, the program can be watched around the world through TVB’s My TV Super Box. Christy Leung is the host in the program and Mark Tsang also appeared with her in front of the camera during this visit to Finland. “Christy’s travel program is getting a lot of media attention and we are really excited to be involved in this production. We hope that viewers from all over will be interested in Finland as well as in our unique destination of the two countries and culture,” commented Noora Barria, the project’s Marketing Manager.

One task of the tourism project is to market HaparandaTornio as a unified tourist destination for international tour operators. The Two Countries- One Destination Interreg project organizes visits to the destination for both tour operators and the media. The next tour operator visits will take place next week and in January, in addition to tour operators, an international media group will be brought to the area in connection with the Matka Travel Fair.
