Experience a timeless classic, now as a chamber opera. A chance to get close and personal with the love-starved bohemians as they sing out their dreams in Puccini’s famous hit cavalcade.

THIS OPERA IS LIVE ON STAGE!

La Bohème from 1896 is the story of a group of young, impoverished artists whose lofty ideals come to a head-on collision with harsh reality.

Their dreams of a free life of romance and creativity are portrayed with beautiful music – and many well-known opera gems. But what will happen when they can’t sell anything and can’t even afford the rent?

Norrlandsoperan now presents the opera in a touring version that originally premiered at Malmö Opera in 2022, directed by Sara Cronberg. The roles are filled by real-life young artists, including master students from Operastudio Norrlandsoperan. Here, we meet them in Franciska Zahle’s eloquent costumes, with style references to both the 19th century and our own time’s bohemian fashion. She also designs the scenography, where Bombina Bombast adds light and artistic projections. The music is played by musicians from the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jonas Olsson.

La Bohème, which is based on a chamber drama, works particularly well in the small format and we look forward to playing the work with close audience contact. Whether you are a die-hard opera fan or have never set foot in an opera house before, this is the show for you.
