International award-winning filmmaker, artist Paola Suhonen ( Master of Arts/ Aalto University, Master of Fine Arts/ American Film Institute) makes a strong return to feature films with her new directorial debut. “From Midnight Sun to Eternity” is a film about self-determination, its loss, larger-than-life love and betrayal.

Two lost people meet by chance on a hot road, united by a growing adventure, the inevitability of the passage of time, the presence of a secret and the longing for love. Acting as each other’s mirrors, they travel across midnight sun-gilded Finland, finding something greater than the moment, another like them, themselves and their dreams.

In eternity, no one is alone.

The film is shot in an exceptional chronological technique, on 16mm film, in Suhonen’s characteristic “true fiction” style, where the protagonists’ delicate acquaintance is followed in a real timeline. Carefully cast characters and powerful characters from all over Finland, as well as unique, authentic locations, colour a wistful, childhood-flavoured, warm, poignantly beautiful and multi-layered adventure.

In the film, the past world meets the future, creating a desire to live in the here and now.

There is still time for eternity, but when the time comes, you know you have lived powerfully.

This impassable, time-laden journey through the land is one you want to take again and again.
